Rest in peace: To N. Hlatswayo

by Dumisani Hlatswayo

Life is a heartbeat
a muscle
one body to carry sins
to ferry our running dreams
a bridge for many souls
my life
is not real without your life
you were a black berry
your skin looked sweet
your color was strong
your curves safe to speed up at night
always you kept secrets tight
in your sacred heart
life is not just trees, rivers and the blue sky
I always think of you
Rest in peace
