Two Poems

by Siyasanga M Tyali

The Killer Unleashed

Yesterday he succumbed
The great killer took him too
In the twilight of his youth
The future looks bleak
Tomorrow it will claim another victim
Will the plague take me too?

Conversation with Freedom

Today I dreamed of you
You seemed so fragile and helpless
I heard of your endless possibilities
But some have witnessed only nightmare in you
Endless misery in a shack
Seemingly your promise has faltered and failed
Freedom, are you for me?
Or are you just a utopian fallacy?
