Calculation

by Lerise Johnson

I have tried various methods of calculation;
counted and recounted, counted
but I can’t seem to cross the divide that the times have brought between us.
Me + you doesn’t = happiness like it used to.
The theorem (now) states that the angles between us aren’t complementary.
The equation was momentary,
now it’s an inequality because you think u > me.
I have changed the nature of my roots
you have become a prime number
that I can’t be a factor of.
It could have been us to power of infinity squared
but you’re irrational, a square root of a number that could have been a perfect square
if it was multiplied by me.
We’re divided and the remainder is left unacknowledged
a decimal tending towards one.
We’re dots on a scatter plot
-no positive correlation.
We can’t function.
