Too much

by Zahraa’ Khaki

That’s what you’ve told me
I feel too much
I want too much
I ask too much
I thirst too much

And I need to be
Lagom
Not too little
Not too much
‘A-de-quate’

Let me satisfy
You
We can’t let that star
Rise too high
Because I feel every tear
Because I scream it clear
Because I don’t hide behind doors
Because I don’t run from more

‘Check her calendar
Yes
Hormones
Weakness
Irrationality
She can’t think straight
She’s crazy’

‘I’m sorry I asked so much of you, I’m sorry I wanted so much of this
I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry’

Double the standard
Hold it up high
Your emotion is passion
Justified
But mine you say is weakness
A feeble mind
When my desire is a flame
You want me to dampen
So you can feel alive

No
I Am Too Much
I Want Too Much
I Feel Too Much
I Am Woman
And I Am Not
Sorry
